One of the most important Real Estate developers in Chicago: Sterling Bay, has committed to welcome Lincoln Yards, a vibrant new development that will connect Chicagoans to over 50 acres of riverfront sitting between some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods: Bucktown, Wicker Park and Lincoln Park.  The development of Lincoln Yards presents a defining moment for Chicago to improve a vast, underutilized parcel of land to benefit residents, businesses and visitors. My role in this project was as an urban designer in the CDP (City Design Practice). I participated in its early stages during site analysis and research, to then transition to concept design where I assisted the design of the urban framework, I performed a number of massing studies that responded to density, program, views and comfort. I participated in the conceptual design of the open space, street network and architectural typologies. I participated and guided the production of imagery and diagrams.

One of the big ideas behind the project was to design a place that responded to the changing needs of the city’s housing and business communities, and at the same time celebrated the site’s industrial past, proposing to recover the site’s lost relationship to Chicago River.
